4/28/2007 Well, I knew things would get busier when the weather turned better. I got a great start on the fuselage in February and March...April on the other hand, well, just over half the time worked as the previous two months so far with a few days to go. Tonight I started by making the F-796B brackets. These are what the forward wing attach bolts to.
The first hole is drilled per plans, and the others are drilled while cleco'd to the skins.
Then the F-796C/D's were drilled to the B's.
I read the plans over and over, and I never found the part where it tells you to drill the bottom forward skin to the lower longerons, so I cleco'd the skin back on, and drilled those holes.
Here's a couple of shots from the inside. The holes are just right.
After a quick bite to eat, I came back out and removed the lower bottom skin again, and started working on the brake pedals. These things are freakin' RAZOR sharp from Van's. Edge deburring is absolutely necessary to start these. After that was done, I cut the angle that will attach to the pedals.
Then I clamped the angles in place and drilled those to the pedals.
I still haven't made my decision on whether or not to install dual brakes. I have the dual brake kit, but I'm still thinking about it. I pretty much need to decide in the next day or two... 4.0 hours |
