4/4/2008 Tonight I worked on getting the fuel lines swapped out. The lines as they were, were probably okay-
-but, there are a few things that bothered me about them. First, I hate those unions that I put in. They'll never be seen, but I know they're there, and it's ugly. Second, any additional fittings invite leaks. Those unions would always be suspect. Third, the bends up to the fuel selector are not quite right...they are thin at the bend. So, rather than remake the lines, I decided to replace them with stainless steel braided line, like I did the brake lines.
This is a much cleaner installation! The lines have anti chaff plastic on them, but I still need to find the right sized snap bushings for the ribs. I also decided to get new brake lines with the anti chaff on them. When I bought the SS lines for the brakes (early last summer), Bonaco hadn't yet put together the packages for RV's. It was soon after that (about a week) that they came out with the packages, which included anti chaff on the lines. I called Brett at Bonaco this week, and we struck a deal for new lines with anti chaff on them, so I have them on the way. The lines without it are EXTREMELY abrasive, and will cut through pretty much anything given time. Here's all the stuff I took out tonight...brake lines and fuel lines.
Tomorrow I hope to get the fuselage on it's gear for the first time! 1.75 hours |
