4/10/2009 Tonight started out good enough...I started installing the switches, and running wires to them...then I went to install an LED light on the fuel pump switch, and it was really close to the switch casing. The fit was acceptable, but when I got to the battery/alternator (master) switch, it was a no go. That switch is much bigger, and there was just no way to get it to fit, unless I mounted the switch sideways...and that ain't happenin'. VERY frustrating, but it happens. I remade the switch panel with the switch holes an eighth of an inch lower, and I'm gonna write this one off to a 'blessing in disguise'. Why? Well it turns out that I like the switch panel better without paint, with the brush aluminum look. It matches the engine control bracket, so it's not out of place. So, since I'm gonna go naked with this piece, I reinstalled the switches, wired them, and did one LED light. I also added four screws to the middle of the panel...was a bit flimsy before.
The whole panel in brushed aluminum was too much, but I like this! Here's a shot of the back of the panel...
I need to figure out the alternator off/failed light to go above the master switch, and I've got wires running everywhere right now with no connection on one end...need to clean things up a bit tomorrow. 2.5 hours |
