4/6/2009 Tonight I installed the I/O Extender module for good, and connected the RCA cable with heat shrink and zip ties to make sure it won't vibrate out. Also a milestone here...the bottom rivet of the nut plate that the bottom AN3 bolt goes in to is the 15,000th rivet I have set on the project!!! That does include all the one's I've drilled out (209 drilled out!), so there are not 15,000 rivets in the airplane yet (14,791 in it so far), but I've set that many!
Then I installed the shunt for the ammeter function of the I/O Extender. I'm not sure how to wire this yet, so I just left it alone for now.
The last thing I did was install the sub-switch panel, and installed the ELT remote. For some reason, the little LED light came on when I plugged the cord in to the back of it. It does have a battery in it, and it could be on because there are no batteries in the unit itself yet. Need to read about that. Then I went to install the smoke switch, and realized a problem. The hole I drilled for the 'smoke on' LED is too close to the switch, and it interferes. I didn't take a pic of it, but needless to say, I took that panel back out, and made a new one with the LED light on the left side of the switch. Oh well, it's only an hour wasted, plus a repaint. :o(
