8/26/2006 I think today ranks as the biggest (read: longest) day I've put in thus far! Six and one half hours (spread out over 10 hours of actual time)! I started this morning by removing the left tank to get that left fuel sender wired.
Since I had the wiring stuff out, I also wired the right tank...here's the left (after re-installing) and right tanks...
Before the wings came off the stands, I torque'd the inboard tank bolts, then prepped the wings to come off the stands (removing clamps, screws, etc...). I called my dad up to come over and help me flip them in to the cradles. Then I cleaned the area where the stands were, and moved the wings back in to that spot.
I did torque the rest of the tank bolts some time in there. After lunch I started on the aileron brackets. Here's the aileron packet after removing the parts from the bag, and then cleco'd together.
Here they are one the spars ready to be drilled...
After drilling, they were deburred, prepped for priming, then primed, and cleco'd back together.
I riveted the brackets together, and also riveted the last few rivets on the top skins to rear spars where I couldn't get due to the wood blocks the clamps were squeezing to hold the rear spars in place on the stands. I could squeeze all but the 470-4-11's, which were shot and bucked in the vise.
I ended the day by just clecoing the brackets to the rear spar.
That's enough for one day... 6.5 hours Previous Next Index RV-7 Home |
