I can't remember a day when I had hay fever as bad as I did today.  I had to cut my night short to get inside in the air conditioning.  That, plus it's 8:14pm as I type this, and it's still 87 degrees outside.  I'll stop complaining and get to what I did get done.

I started by dimpling the tunnel cover and doubler plate for the flush rivets I'll use to attach them.  Then I repainted the tunnel cover black, and primed the doubler.

While those were drying, I decided to go ahead and drill the F-796A tank attach angles to the fuselage and the T-405 tank bracket.  I finally got my angle drill adapter in the mail today, so I used it to get the holes drilled.  The holes that are drilled in to the fuselage suck to get to.  I drilled a #40 pilot hole, then drilled them to #12 for the AN3 bolt.  The hole for the 405 tank bracket was drilled to 1/4" using the back side of the 796A as a guide.  The angle drill is just about the only way to do this one.

Oh, I ordered my wing root fairings today.  For some reason that is beyond me, Van's does not send these with either the wing kit or the fuselage kit.  You need these at this stage to get them drilled and fitted to the wings while they are on.  I suppose it's possible to wait until the very end, but I don't want to risk having to put the wings on three times if something needed to be addressed before they go on for the final time.  The instructions also say that they need to be fit and drilled at this stage.  SO WHY DON'T THEY COME WITH THE FUSELAGE KIT???  I'll have to remember to delete them from the Finish Kit now...

No work tomorrow night, but hopefully my allergies will clear up a bit over the weekend because Brit has a dog seminar in town, but will be gone all day Saturday and Sunday.
