With the engine finished, I wanted to weigh it to find out where the bare engine really tips the scales.  To make this safe and keep from scratching, I wanted to weigh it on the palette, so first I weighed that.  It came in at 76 pounds.  Heavier than I thought it would be, but I am using a calibrated scale, so that's what it is.

Then we put the engine down on the palette, and bolted it in place.  The engine does have two quarts of preservative in it.  Here's the overall setup-

I had a 200lb weight and a 100lb weight on the balance side for 300 total (in case you didn't want to do the math)... {;o)-

Then we slid the scale to balance the arm.  Another 16lbs did it for a total of 316 pounds with the palette included.  So, subtract the palette weight of 76lbs, and we get 240lbs for the engine.

This is with NO accessories on the engine, two quarts of preservative oil in it, and an oil filter in place.  I will be weighing all the accessories and parts as they go on the engine to get a FWF weight.

After work, my friend Larry brought his truck by work, and we loaded up the engine with a forklift to bring it home.  I also called on Rob and Tom to help unload it at my house.  Arrived safe and sound...

After the fellas headed home, I did spend an hour in the garage prepping and painting the flywheel.  This had just come back from California where I sent it to have the magnets installed for the Light Speed Ignition.

You could've guessed I'd paint it red, right?

I probably won't paint the inside as it is barely visible when installed.

In other BIG news...my interior arrived from Flightline Interiors today!  This is SWEET!!!!!  I LOVE how this turned out!!  We bought the full interior kit which includes seats, sidewalls, carpets front and rear, baggage bulkhead, tonneau cover, and a complete fore and aft wall kit.  I also had Abby make a couple of pockets for behind the seats and map pockets along the sides.

Close up of the seats...

I had her embroider 'RV7' on each sidewall...this is a nice touch.

The baggage bulkhead cover and tonneau cover...

And finally the wall kit.  There are lots of pieces here that I didn't feel like spreading out.

I am THRILLED with Abby's work!!!  Top Notch!
