8/3/2008 Happy Birthday to my little sis today! Back from another week at Oshkosh...GREAT TIME! I bought a Lightspeed Engineering Plasma II+ ignition for one side, and sold the mag that was removed. We had a great time camping in Scholler for the week, and met up with some "old" friends that I usually only see at the show. I was joined by Brad Oliver, Larry Enyeart, Joe Ferraro, and John Sanizzarro for the week, and we had Mike Bullock in for Thursday night, along with another friend of mine from work, Ray Ortega. Big campsite...I really missed my dad being there this year, and he will hopefully be able to return with me next year. Things just didn't work out for him to head up for a few days this time. Anyway, Feeling somewhat refreshed by the trip, but still physically worn out, I did work on the airplane today, but just briefly. I called my dad this morning to see if he could run over to help me remove the canopy from the fuselage. "I'll be right over" he said. Here's the last time the canopy will be on the airplane until the end...I hope.
After he headed back home, I wanted to get back to working on the firewall stuff. I plan to order the rest of the stuff I need from Van's for the firewall this week, get all the FW mounted hardware installed, and then work on either the panel or hang the engine. I can't decide what I want to do first at this point. I have the FWF plans, so there are a few things I can get started on before the stuff shows up, and the first steps are installing plate nuts for the oil breather tube clamp, and the oil pressure line clamps. Here's the breather tube clamp plate nut location-
The oil pressure line clamps are just above the recess hole (which I won't have a recess with the longer mount). Here is one installed (red arrow), and the other holes drilled (blue arrow).
Just a quick shot in the arm of building today, as I am still quite tired from the trip. I NEVER take naps, but this afternoon was an exception. On the couch, and I was out! 1.25 hours |
