8/7/2008 Today worked out to get the engine out of the crate. I moved the engine crate to the front of the hangar where we could easily lift the crate with the forklift. I had plenty of help today, and it went nice and smooth.
With the front of the crate removed, and the box lifted, it was easy to get the hoist over the engine.
We then moved the engine back to the rear wall of the hangar...
...set it up on a cradle...
...and drained the preservative oil.
We didn't think it had much in it, so we started with a mat to soak up the oil. We quickly realized that wasn't going to be enough, and found a cup to catch the rest. Tomorrow, we'll get the engine stood up on the stand, wash it down, and start removing the cylinders. 1.0 hour |
