8/23/2009 Brit had her wisdom teeth pulled this past Thursday, so I have been home taking care of her the last couple of days...but this morning I drove her out to the kennel club for a meeting she had to be at, so while she did that, I went to the airport! On Friday, the guys at work primed my baffles for me with AZKO...they were doing a batch of parts for the Learjet, so I brought my parts in to get 'em done. So this morning, I started installing the baffles (hopefully for good this time!)...
It was also time to drill the holes for the wires for the electronic ignition coils. I am using rubber grommets, and will RTV them in place to seal them.
Oh, before I did all this, I laid down two more layers of 'glass on the front of the plenum...I really hope that is the last mod on that thing... Next I started working on the oil cooler cutout. I debated about mounting it on the firewall for a LONG time, but I want my smoke system tank to mount on the FW, so the cooler will go on the baffles. Plus, Sam James claims that a FW mounted cooler will run the oil temps 30 degrees hotter. So here's the cutout...
The next step is to decide whether I want to angle it back, or just mount it flush. On the standard baffles, it is mounted flush, but it also gets mounted much higher. With the plenum, half of the cooler is behind the cylinder. There would still be airflow to it thru the fins, but I may angle it back to get more surface area exposed. SJ plans call for it to be angled too... 3.25 hours |
