Today was a fun day working on the wingtips!  Installing the close-out ribs was quite enjoyable.  I started by modifying the ribs a little by shortening them, and cutting the forward flange at an angle.  I did the cuts with the band saw.

Then I measured and marked off the line for the rib and spaced out the rivet holes.  I drilled the fiberglass first, then match drilled the ribs.

The holes were drilled to final size #30 for the CS4-4 blind rivets I used to attach them.  I'm not sure what the plans call for, but I think most people squeeze solid rivets to attach the rib with the flanges facing the other way.  Putting the rib in with the flanges toward the outboard edge will allow the delrin plastic that I'm going to use to secure the pins to sit in line with the hinges.

Then the holes were countersunk for the CS4's.

The delrin block will attach to the rib with a screw, so in order for that to happen, I had to  install a platenut on each rib.

Before installing, I primed the ribs with Napa 7220.

And lastly, they were installed with the blind rivets.

I took a lot of pics for this little project!

I'll be using a filler over the top of the blind rivets to cover them up down the road sometime.  For now, they'll remain exposed.
