12/1/2009 Tonight my goal was to get all antenna's, except the GPS antenna's, installed. I'm happy to say that I met the goal, and was even able to test the Icom radio, and it works! I started with the ELT antenna...
Then I moved under the airplane for the transponder antenna...
And finally, the comm antenna. I had to have some help with this one because I obviously can't be on the outside and inside at the same time.
Next I hooked up the coax to the antenna's. I used a 90 degree BNC fitting for the comm to keep the coax flat along the floor.
The transponder antenna was easy enough...though I do have to secure the extra coax.
I do have one issue with the comm that I need to research...I tested it on the ATIS frequency first, then switched to our Unicom frequency. Transmit works fine, and we could hear each other loud and clear, however, whenever the PTT isn't pressed, I get a constant "RX" light. That would be normal when listening to ATIS, but not sure that's normal or not on another frequency, so I gotta do some reading. The only thing I can think of is ATIS was in the standby window, and the radio has "Dual" mode, so it may have been "RX"ing that. ??? If someone knows, shoot me an email... 2.5 hours |
