2/15/2007 What a long day today was. My day started with a 4am alarm for a trip that took me to Detroit, Madison, Milwaukee, back to Madison, back to Detroit, then home this evening. I'm exhausted. The only reason I went out to the garage tonight was because Brit had a trainer's meeting at the Kennel Club. I had an EAA Chapter meeting tonight too, but I got home late, and I'm tired. Nothing at all exciting from this evening. All I did was locate the parts for the F-706 bulkhead. I fluted F-706B (the bottom piece, which was just a little out of whack), then deburred the edges. Then I drilled the snap bushing holes in the side pieces for the rudder cables.
Then I started making the F-729C angle, but couldn't do anything more than make the first rough cut. My bench grinder gave up on me on Tuesday night. Sad really. My dad bought that cheap thing almost 20 years ago! Oh well. That's great service for a cheap unit! So, I ordered a new one from Harbor Freight the other night. Yep, another cheapy...Anyway, stop the tears please. I marked some more angle for cutting for F-728B and F-729B, then deblued and deburred the F-729A rib. Here's a shot of the ugly thin aluminum that makes these bulkheads. I say that 'cuz it's just dull and has a funky finish to it. The wing ribs where the same way. They'll be primed anyway, so I'll stop complaining.
Did I mention I'm tired? In the right of that pic is the F-729A rib. 1.0 hour |
