2/20/2007 A quick night tonight in the garage. I had Yeager at home with me tonight, and he demands a bit more attention at 9 months than Wiley does. All I did tonight was drill the aft side rails to the longerons. I started by clamping a .032 shim to the longeron to simulate the side skin that will go there later and the 721B-R in place. The side rail overhangs the longeron by .032 to fit flush with that skin, and this is where the bend line comes from on the template.
With everything in place, and not moving, I drilled the first hole in the forward end and cleco'd it. Then I jumped to the middle, made sure it was still flush before drilling, and put that hole and cleco in. Then I went back and drilled a hole halfway between the middle and the forward end, and cleco'd it. Then I went to the aft end, drilled and cleco'd that hole, and then halfway between the aft end and the middle. I just kept splitting the difference until all holes were drilled and cleco'd.
Repeated the process for the other side, and both are done. I found a good storage spot for the longerons for now...the windshields on my boat also double as shelf space!
