2/8/2007 Tonight I started by removing the control column from the bulkhead/spar. I took it off with the mounts, though the instructions say to leave the mounts on. Don't know why, because they will need to come off later to buck some skin rivets. I also plan to modify four seat ribs instead of two to make fitting the controls easier later, and for easier service down the road. Then I drilled and countersunk the forward and aft sections of the bulkhead for the platenuts along the top flange.
Then I hooked up the 'ol pneumatic squeezer and set some rivets, installing the platenuts.
The cover support ribs were next in line. I did all the usual stuff to prep them for working with 'em, and then drilled them to the spar.
Then they were drilled for the platenuts and snap bushings...
...and then I installed the platenuts and snap bushings.
I'm not going to prime these as they will be inside the cockpit, and not seen. 2.5 hours |
