More transponder harness wiring today.  I started by labeling each end of the Gillman code wires...

After that lengthy process was done, I inserted the wires in to the Dsub connector with the pin and socket tool.

This little tool is pretty slick...the red end inserts them, and the white end removes them.  The two halves separate in the middle.

Here's the Dsub for the Enigma encoder before the shell is installed...

...and with the shell covering the connector-

The transponder end uses this shell, which then connects to the removable back of the transponder rack.

The harness is done and connected!

Next was the transponder antenna wire.  I actually decided to use the wire I made the other day for the Monroy antenna because I've changed the location of the traffic antenna.  Have to make a new, shorter one for that now.

I also worked on changing all the splices I had made with solder to Dsub pins and sockets.  It's a much cleaner way to do it, makes the wires more serviceable, and I have plenty left over at this point.

I noticed something a bit troubling this week in the garage...it's probably not a big deal, but cosmetically it looks bad-

That's rust under the paint.  Bummer.  It is steel, and I kinda figured this would happen.  I'll probably just take the paint off, and wax it or oil it or something to keep rust off.
