2/23/2009 During the day today, I found a couple more pictures of the Molex connector and the Molex crimping tool instructions so I could start the Icom A210 harness. It's another pretty simple matter of making a crimp, and inserting it in to the connector. Dsub's are easier, but with the A210, the Molex allows for a lot more options. I started with the jumper wires with 20AWG...
Then I did the ground wires with 18AWG. Getting two wires in the Molex pin proved difficult, but it's do-able.
Then I added the aircraft power wires with 18AWG-
The next step is to wire the audio. I'm not sure yet where my headset jacks will be, and I need to read up on the comm to intercom wiring, so that's where I stopped on that for tonight. The Hobbs meter has just been sitting there patiently waiting for some attention, so tonight I cut a couple lengths of wire, and plugged them both in to the back of the meter.
I also ran the wire from the battery bus to the oil pressure switch (not yet out of the box)...no pic tho. The other thing I want to make mention of today, is my smoke system arrived! I got the kit from a little company called Sky Smoke. They make these systems more for powered parachutes and trikes, and because of that, the little pump they send with the kit won't be enough to send oil out fast enough to look good coming out the exhaust of the RV at 200mph. The rest of the kit will work, but I'll need to get a bigger pump for it. The price is unbeatable at $135 shipped!
The best system available is from Smoking Airplanes, but I'm not gonna drop $800 on a smoke system when this kit can be adapted to the RV easily. I think I'm going to put the tank between the rudder pedals to make it fairly easy to remove, but we'll see what goes on in that area later. 2.75 hours |
