2/27/2010 This weekend is the first in a long line of weekends that Brittne will be out of town with the dogs...can't say I'm happy about that, but I will have plenty of time to finish the airplane up this spring I suppose... Today I worked on a multitude of items...first I worked on the IOX again...trying to figure out what the problem is. I grabbed an RCA cable to check to make sure I didn't have a bad cable, but still got the same reading..."IOX not connected". I plugged the original back in, and for whatever reason, I'm getting a IOX reading now. I'm not sure what I did, or why it is now working, but it is. Could be the new IOX, could be that I didn't have the RCA seated all the way...who knows. It's working. Then I worked on getting the smoke pump power run. I ran a local ground, and then temporarily hooked up a power lead to test the pump...
All worked great, and the little yellow LED caution light comes on when the pump is running! SWEET! (I did remove the plugs to test it...). Then I worked on figuring out what fittings I need to purchase to connect the system. The pump has huge 8D NPT threads, and I need to size that down to 4D at the most for the tubing and hoses to work. Also need to figure out a way to make some clamp on nozzles for the exhaust pipes... After that I just worked on some random wire tidying (pic below), and also secured the carb heat cable to the rudder brace to keep it from sagging down on the smoke tank (green arrow).
Toward the end of the day, I ran over to my hangar to grab a couple of things to work on tomorrow...gotta get the primer system done, and work on the cover for the fuel pump... 4.0 hours |
