So after eight and a half hours of work on the crotch strap brackets, they are done!! I would estimate, that just like anything else that has to be modified or customized, that these took twice as long as they would have if I wouldn't have had to make extended flanges.
So, first off today I stopped at my hangar to pick up the floor covers. These had to be in place to drill the holes for the plate nut screw holes. I cleco'd them in place along the ribs and also drilled and cleco'd the screw holes to #40. They were drilled to #19 after this pic was taken.
Skip ahead an hour or so, and I had the plate nuts riveted t the brackets, and had them primed. The lights made for some odd shadows...
Move ahead another hour or so, and I had both sides riveted in place.
I'm sure I'll be really glad I put the fifth point in the first time I hit some moderate turbulence, but I am SO glad these are done! What a pain!!
