Today was first flight day for the RC A6M "Zero" that I built last summer.  It's been a LONG road to get to this point.  That sounded dramatic didn't it?  Long road, yes.  Difficult?  No.  My friend Rich is an RC "guru", and our schedules just haven't jived to get this thing in the air...until today!  I went over to his house this morning to pick him up, and we drove just down the street to get to the little park that we use to fly little RC's.

I didn't fly the Zero due to a CG problem, but Rich was able to deal with it easily enough to get two flights in.  First, he taxied around a bit to make sure everything was working right.

High speed taxi with a slight liftoff...

Rich deemed the bird ready to fly, and she was off!

Overhead testing out flight controls...VERY sensitive in pitch.  The battery needs to be moved forward.

On final for the first landing...it was picture perfect!

Rich post first flight.

Just to give an idea of how good Rich is with RC's...here's his basement!  Park flyers, Aerobatics, P-51, P-40, and a Corsair!!

Oh, and just to keep him busy...Here's another P-51 and a P-47 almost ready.  I think the balsa wing on the left is ANOTHER P-51 under construction!

Yeah, he knows what he is doing!

My Zero has flown, and after the CG problem is fixed, I'll soon get to fly it.  In the meantime, I'm working on a new RC project...a Cessna 195.  As of today, I have the horizontal stab frame, and the elevator structures built.  Here's a link to the 195 I'm building...48" wingspan!!  Top Notch Cessna 195
