1/5/2008 No finish kit yet, but I did get my seatback material this week! It's been such a long break that I had to take the time to get back to doing something on the airplane. This material, while black in color, should allow ample ventilation thru the seatback frames that I made last summer. It's an open cell material, not really foam, but similar. I used four layers to make the seatbacks comfortable (that is yet to be determined). This is a complete trial and error experiment that may not work worth a darn, but I had to try it. So, here is the material stock.
This pic gives you a good idea of what I mean by it should ventilate well...yes, I was watching Miami Vice.
I cut the four layers (each one a bit wider as they go out), and laid the seatback face down.
Using tie wraps, I methodically wrapped the material around the sides, and secured it to the seatback.
The right side seatback is lookin' pretty good!
And after another two or so hours, I had the left side finished. This pictures shows where I am going to have a sort of "cap" put over the top to cover the material's fasteners. This cap will only go down to the red line, and will be in a contrasting color, probably red.
Cool, huh? Hopefully! I also got my Bell tailwheel fork this week! It took a LONG time to get it, but since I am in no hurry for it, it didn't bother me in the least.
I hope to see my finish kit ship on time the week of the 21st so I can get back to working on this regularly! 5.0 hours |
