I forgot to mention in my last entry that Jack Holland and I went to visit our friend Terry Ruprecht, RV-9A builder this past weekend.  He has a great shop/garage in a great home, and we've been meaning to visit him and his project for some time.

He is getting to the point of having almost everything he needs to finish his airplane...2011!

Tonight I decided not to work on the smoke system...I think I have things figured out as far as how it will all get pieced together, but I don't have all the components yet.  I ordered a fuel pump and a filter today, but still need a needle valve, a solenoid, and the plumbing.  Also haven't yet figured how to mount the tank...in the baggage area.  It's simply not a good idea to put it in front of the firewall like I had thought.  Numerous people emailed me about it, and said it's not a good thing.

So I worked on reinstalling the air vents.  I had asked for, and received, a pair of AveoAir ball vents for Christmas from my in-laws.  These things are nice!  While replacing the vents, I also ditched the vent tubing that Van's sends with the kit, and used SCAT in it's place.

The left side was a simple matter of installing the vent, and hooking up the tube (though the vent doesn't fit quite right because of the Enigma being sort of in the way...but it works).  I had never done anything about the right side, other than making the hole in the panel.  I still had to make the hole in the sub-panel for the SCAT to pass thru because of where I located my fuse blocks.  This was done with a 2.5" hole saw.  I lined the hole with some nylon tubing to prevent chaffing.

Then I hooked up the NACA end of the SCAT and passed it thru the sub-panel.

And then fished the SCAT thru the wires that go to the fuse blocks, clamping it to the back of the vent.

I had left a "hole" in the wire runs to allow the SCAT to pass thru, so this was planned.

Here's the new eyeball vent!

These are VERY nice vents, and they are much easier to hook up than the one's I had before.
