1/29/2007 Well I didn't get the time in the shop that I thought I would tonight, but today's trip to Lincoln, Nebraska in the 421 took much longer than anticipated. We were supposed to be back around 4 or 5 this afternoon, but didn't get back to BMI until almost 9pm. Oh well...421 time is worth it, I suppose. Anyway, I did work for an hour and removed everything from the firewall to deburr. I also rounded the edges of the 601J angles and the 601N angles to help "nest" them in the angles they sit in better. Then I made the brake doubler plate for the firewall from some AL sheet.
Next I need to deburr all the parts, but I didn't have time to get going on this tonight. I did get the recess cleco'd in place, but it doesn't fit like it should, so I'm gonna have to do some searching tomorrow to see if others are having fit issues with it. Here's a couple of pics to show what I mean. You can see the top left cleco is crooked, and none of the holes above that line up.
Misaligned holes...
The Leaning Cleco of Pisa.
