1/30/2007 I can't seem to get a good work session in lately whether it's not feeling well, or it's just too freakin' cold to work in the garage. Tonight I brought the bulkheads inside to flute them. These things are badly distorted from the flanging process, and I received my new fluting pliers today, so I took the opportunity to work in the warmth tonight. Wow, that's ugly...
That's better.
All bulkheads are done. Nice and flat.
Here's the new pair of fluting pliers...
...and the old ones that I DON'T like (on the left, obviously).
The other news from today is that I got my flap weldment back from the powdercoater! This looks REALLY nice!! It's Chrome Silver with a clear coat.
Now for the bad news...I'll have to check around about this, but it turns out the two aft arms of the weldment are about an inch and a half longer than the electric flap weldment that comes with the fuselage kit.
Other than that, they are identical. I hope it works 'cuz I really don't want to cut and weld that freshly powercoated part. I'll post on the forums, and contact Van's about it, but I don't expect much help from them since they don't give the manual flap option from the factory.
