7/30/2006

I tried beating the heat today by getting up early to work on the airplane, but it was already 79 degrees at 7:30am.  I worked in to the early afternoon hours with a few breaks to cool off, and got a lot done.  It was 97 degrees when I quit at 2:30 this afternoon.

I finished drilling the platenut holes in the right leading edge, dimpled the holes and rivets, then set the pop rivets in the platenuts.

Then I made a template for the reflector bracket that I'll used for both sides.  I did this so I could get each installation exactly the same.  The template is on the top, and the right side is cut and bent.

Then the holes for the mounting screws were drilled, and located the spot for the light hole to be cut and cut it.

Then I made the brackets that will hold the light in place on the reflector bracket.

Here's the light's I'm gonna use.  These are just fog lights that I thought looked really cool with their blue lenses.  I'll probably replace the bulb with Sylvania Silverstar's later on, but these are 55w just the same...

They look pretty sweet installed!!

After lunch, I started on the left side.  I cut the reflector bracket, then started on the platenut installation on the ribs and got those done.

Long, hot morning...

5.75 hours
