7/20/2007 An unexpected night in the shop tonight. I didn't know Brit had a practice session, so I got to get a few things done. I started with the fuel line cover attach brackets. Like I said the other night...these things SUCK! I could only get three of the four pop rivets in, and the blind rivet callout is WAY too long to fit in there. I used something smaller like an AD-42 or something. This is just to hold the cover in place, so I'm not worried about using only three rivets. It's solid, and will serve it's purpose. You can also see I installed the platenuts. I think I should've put those in AFTER I riveted the bracket to the side wall. I probably could've reached that last pop rivet, but as it was, the top platenut was in the way.
Then I primed the 7114's, and installed those.
Next I found the F-796 forward wing/tank attach brackets, and installed those. I don't know why I waited...maybe the plans said to set them aside, but there is no reason to wait until now. Also of note here, is that the plans call for a 6 length rivet. It's WAY too short. 8's work much better.
There is a screw that is needed at the bottom of that bracket, so I drilled that hole, and countersunk for the screw, then installed it on each side.
I also cleco'd the F-796A fuel tank attach bracket in place, but I need to do some research to find out when the bottom hole actually gets drilled.
