To my surprise, I got all of the house work done yesterday, so that allowed me some time on the project this morning while Brit was at a "Show & Go" practice trial with the doggies.  Before I get in to the boring details of today's work, I did get my Sam James cowl and induction kit last night, but it was too late to update yesterday's entry by the time I got home.

Here it is!

I bought this second hand from a guy that didn't want to use it because the alternator had a clearance problem, and he wouldn't put a blister on the cowl to get the needed clearance.  That doesn't bother me one bit, so I got a good deal on it, and we'll see how it works out later on.  His airplane is an A model, so I will have to glass over the slot he already cut for the nose gear, but that's not a big deal either.

Here's the induction kit and one blister that he included in the deal...I have no clue how to install this stuff, since I didn't get instructions with it, but I'll find some.

Anyway, this morning I started sanding on the second layer of micro.  I *think* that this will be the last layer, but I'll have someone more versed in 'glass to come look at it, and tell me if it needs more work.

Here it is sanded to the shape I want, and down to the first layer of electricians tape along the top.

Then I removed the yellow tape, and sanded it down to the red layer, stepping thru the grits from 50 to 150.  With the red tape removed, the results really surprised me...it actually looks really good!

A couple of detail shots from either side...

I hope that's the last layer I'll need.  I probably need to sand it a bit smoother, but I think it came out really nice.

That's it!  More work after Oshkosh!!
