7/25/2009 After the Chapter breakfast this morning, I milled around the hangar for a bit...put up some new shelves, squeegee'd the water back out from the storm last night, basically stalling work on the cowl. I decided to put the wingtips. I plan to rig the controls soon, so I put 'em on. It's so easy with the hinge pins, especially with a cordless drill spinning the pins in...took two minutes apiece.
Then I started fiddling with control stick alignment before forcing myself to work on the cowl. I ground down the tabs to the height I wanted first.
Then I made the metal back plate for the tabs, and taped them in position to drill the holes for the screws.
Drilled the hole...
Countersunk the hole, and put a test screw in...
...and then 'glassed the back plate to the bottom cowl.
Now that the tabs are basically done (except sanding the glass smooth), I think I can either do the rings or the oil door. I knew the cowl was going to be a HUGE time consumer... 3.5 hours |
