7/6/2009 Tonight I riveted the hinges to the bottom cowl. The instructions (both Van's and SJ) call for either epoxy or sealant to be used between the hinges and the cowl to keep oil and what-not from seeping between the hinge and cowl. I had some sealant on hand, so I mixed some up, and went to town...it makes a very distinctive black line, but who cares...it's gonna get painted soon! It took a while to get to this point...these two pictures are from the last 45 minutes of work tonight.
Riveted in...
I have some minor clean up to do after it cures, but this was super easy to do. After it cures, and I can put it back on the airplane, I am going to focus on fixing that gap on the left side between the cowl and firewall. It's driving me NUTS knowing that it's there... 2.25 hours |
