6/19/2007 My dad came over for a few minutes tonight to help me finish riveting the F-706 bulkhead center brace to the bulkhead and bottom skin.
After that, I cleco'd and riveted the F-656 gussets to the 706 and 707 bulkheads. I had primed these while waiting for daddio to come over. I thought these would be a really simple item to check off with the squeezer, but several of the rivets had to be bucked.
Next were the top J channels. These were already made way back when I did the side J channels, but they needed center line markings before taping them to the bulkheads so they don't slide when fitting the rear top skin.
Obviously next was the rear top skin. This cleco'd on fairly easily, but did take a bit of coaxing a few times.
The only thing I did after that was drill one hole in each J channel to 707 bulkhead to keep it from moving. The rest of the drilling will have to wait for another day. 2.25 hours |
