Tonight was my first experience of drilling plexiglass.  I borrowed the Avery plexi bits from another builder here in town, Terry Wendling (RV-7A), and they really work well.  I was told to use high rpm and low pressure.  Seemed to work.

Before I started drilling, I made two small trims with the belt sander to get a better fit on the front skin, then I marked the side rails for drilling.  I also marked the roll bar up about ten inches for screws.

This is where I'm going to combine screws with Sikaflex.  I had hoped to use Sika all the way around, but it just isn't going to work.  The product says it needs a minimum of 1/8" if space for it to really work, and I don't have that along the rails, or the first ten inches or so going up the roll bar.  So, in order to keep the spacing between the side rails, and the canopy deck at 1/8" all the way, I'll use a combo of the two fasteners.

I went ahead and drilled the holes in the rails to #40, then put the glass down on top of it to drill thru the plexi using the holes underneath as a guide.  The holes are not yet drilled in the pic below.

With the bubble clamped and taped down, it was time to drill.  Went fine, and didn't have any issues to deal with.  Phew...

So, Sika will go where the red lines are, and the cleco's will be were the screws go.

Because of the way I built the frame, figuring out this bubble attachment has been, and will continue to be, somewhat of a challenge.  I'll get thru it one way or another...
