6/12/2009 Tonight was the final wing mating!
What? So...they're wood. Okay, okay...I have these wings from an EAA Sport Biplane in my hangar, and I HAD to take this picture... Okay, for real this time...we did mate the wings tonight! I had a BUNCH of help for this, and I need to thank each one of ya...my dad Jeff, Rich, Dan, Jim, Steve, Ray, Jack, Larry, Rob and Christine, and Carl...thanks everyone for coming out to help!! MUCH APPRECIATED!! Here we are getting the right side prepped...
Juuuust bring it right up to the slot...hold it! Nice and slow...
In the slot...gotta be sure the bottom skin doesn't catch...
Right side on! The sawhorse is there to keep it from tipping...obviously, right?
This is everyone in one pic, except Rob, Christine, and Carl...they weren't able to make it right when we started. Jim is getting his spotlight commentary on film for me...can't wait to see what was said here!
My dad and I lifting the left wing off the cradle-
Same thing...nice and s l o w...
Wings on! And one happy builder! I haven't put the close tolerance bolts in yet...that will happen next time.
We had one last step to do tonight...
RV-7 Biplane anyone??? ;o) My airplane is really starting to look like it's wanting to fly...
Cool night, big milestone, LOTS of motivation...beer time! 1.5 hours |
