Today was a SWEET day!  The temperature came up a bit to almost 60 degrees, and I worked in the garage with the door open!!  I managed two sessions today in order to work with my dad's schedule so he could come over to help me start riveting the tailcone together.  More on that in a minute...

I started this morning by drilling the little holes near the rudder cable thru holes to #19 for the #8 screw that will go in there for routing the rudder cables on each side.  The screw is just there for the pic for now.

Then I decided to put a little primer on the aft section of the side skins.  I wasn't going to do this, but after looking over the area, I realized I had scratched it up pretty good when getting the J channels fit.

Then I cleco'd the tailcone together for the last time.  I just took a shot of the aft section because I thought the contrast was cool.

I stopped here to work around the house a bit and do some things to the boat to start getting it ready for warmer weather.  Later in the afternoon, my dad came over to help me get started on riveting this section together.  We flipped the "canoe" over and then started where the instructions say to by doing the bottom skin to bulkhead rivets, and bottom skin to side skin lines.

Here's my daddio in the bucking position...he's still limber enough to get up inside there!!

I shot the gun and he did all the bucking, and these turned out great!!  I did an inspection this evening and found a couple that we need to tap a bit further, but none need to be drilled.  Nice work dad!!

Here's one more shot showing the tail wheel mount where it comes thru the aft skin and the shape the cutout ended up being.

What a great day, and tomorrow is forecast more of the same!
