3/17/2007 Finally back in the shop today. Plans Wednesday, EAA Chapter meeting Thursday, got called on a trip Friday, and most of today was spent cleaning the house. Brit went out with some friends tonight, so I did get a little time to work on the airplane. I started by trimming and smoothing the cutouts from the ribs.
Then I drilled the ribs for the platenuts that will hold the screws for the floor skins. Deburring was next, followed by dimpling for the rivets. Then I riveted them on. I went out to work to get a 8-32 tap to tap the platenuts, but for some reason both tap sets were lacking (missing) an 8-32 tap. Guess I'll do it later.
Not wanting to get started on anything too big tonight, I decided to just work on attaching the little plates to the cutouts.
Then I drilled the plates to the ribs to a #19 hole.
Called it a night there since it was 11:30pm already. Tomorrow should be a big day in the shop! Oh, and Happy St. Patrick's Day! |
