3/26/2007 Well, at the end of the day, I don't yet have an answer from Van's on my riveting blunder. I have, however, had several builders tell me that this is definitely not a show stopper. I feel like I overreacted about it as well. After looking over it again today, it really is not that bad. Here is a picture of it with the white topcoat over the primer. It's almost indistinguishable.
I didn't really want to cover that pretty gold, but it had to be done. Even though I don't have a response from Van's, I feel confident that they will say don't worry about it. So, I decided to work on some riveting this afternoon. I was off work today due to flying all night last night (literally). I started by putting a centerline mark on the side seat ribs, and then set those aside.
Then I cleco'd the 705 bulkhead and the baggage ribs to the seat ribs, and riveted those together. The 705 looks sweet in black, huh?
Next, I flipped the center section over, and cleco'd the 776 bottom center skin back in place.
That's all I did today. I need my dad to come over to help rivet that skin, and I also don't want to get too far if Van's does come back with bad news. 2.0 hours |
