3/4/2007 Tonight I finished drilling the aft fuselage, except the 706 bulkhead ring and the longeron lines (they will be drilled when the forward skins and longerons are installed. I started with the J channels and finished those holes with the #40 bit, then moved on to the pre-punched holes with a #40 reamer. When everything was drilled, I disassembled all the parts in order to deburr and dimple.
I also noticed some rubbing on the tail spring mount (which I expected)...
...so I adjusted the cutout on the 779 skin a bit with a drum sander.
That will be the final shape. Funny how the digital camera makes the right side look curved...it's straight. I've lots of deburring to do in the next couple of days...yippee. 3.0 hours |
