3/11/2008 Another forty-five minute day on the RV again today...at least it's somethin'! At work today, I drilled the C-710 actuator rod ends out with a #3 bit, then tapped 1/4-28 threads about an inch or so in. I used the lathe that we have at work for the tapping. It works great for this! I hand spun the rod while holding the tap. LPS-1 was used as a general lubricant. Lube makes a HUGE difference when tapping threads!
The blue arrow points the part that I spun with my hand to go nice and slow.
When I got home this evening, I cleaned up the rod, then primed and painted it. 0.75 hours |
