3/24/2008 Boring stuff tonight. All I did was make the spacers required to get the canopy frame to fit properly and flange & flute the 631A roll bar. The spacers are 1/8" for the frame to the side rail spacing, and 13/16" for the roll bar spacing. I used a really dense 2x4 to make the 13/16" spacers to get as accurate as I could. The 1/8" spacers are scrap angle.
Then I used my hand seamers to flange the 631A roll bar to 92.5 degrees. They come from Van's at about 88 degrees. The canopy meets the roll bar at a downward slope, so the flange needs to be acute.
When making the flanges 92.5 degrees, it warps the piece badly. To counter this, they need to be fluted.
I didn't pay any attention to spacing the flutes on the roll bar since I will be using Sikaflex to attach the canopy instead of screws. Fun stuff, huh? 1.5 hours |
