3/6/2010 Man the weather the last couple of days REALLY begs for me to be in MY hangar...not in a huge hangar with big airplanes and the doors closed. It's getting nicer out... I got a nice long session in on the airplane today, starting with the ELT batteries. I climbed back in to the tail cone to get the ELT housing out in order to install them. When I opened it up, I found this sticker...
Good thing I accidentally bought the right batteries!
I crawled back in there again to install the ELT, and flip the switch to "ARM".
Since everything in the tail cone is now done, I decided to put the lower 2/3 baggage cover in place.
Then I cleco'd the flap actuator arm covers in place...ran out of screws to put these in.
...and then did the same for the side caps for the uprights on the spars. I'll rivet those in at some point.
I've been waiting a long time to do this next item on the list...to make it "official" in case no one knew, I stuck the 'EXPERIMENTAL' vinyl decal on the roll bar. I put it here because it obviously stands out when the canopy is open, and is hidden by the canopy frame when it's closed.
Next it was on to the seat belts, starting with the crotch straps.
I started there because I thought those would be terribly difficult to install, but it was a simple matter really. Then I put the lap belts in-
Then the shoulder harness was mounted to the cable-
The whole five point system-
A close up of the rotary buckle (which works GREAT!!!)-
And finally a preview of what I'm doing tomorrow...
My dad will be joining me in the morning to help me install the rear glass! 5.0 hours |
