5/8/2006 More tank and Z bracket work tonight. I started by de-bluing the left tank inside skin T-701-L and set it in the second LE cradle for rib and baffle installation. Cleco'd those in place, and set it aside for now.
Then I moved to the Z brackets. The brackets get removed from the spar to prep and drill the nutplate holes. Dan's method works very well to get the holes drilled perfectly. Use three throwaway nutplates and AN3 bolts to place them, and drill away (with a cleco holding it straight).
After all the holes are drilled, they get deburred and the backside gets countersunk to they sit flush against the spar. The inboard bracket is dealt with later. With everything deburred and countersunk, I installed the nutplates to the brackets.
A great night of work, but man this takes some time! I still have the left side Z brackets to rivet. They are drilled and countersunk though. 4.0 hours |
