5/29/2007 I didn't think I'd get any time in today, so this was some bonus time while I waited for Brit to get home. The blind rivets that I drilled out the other day were replaced with more blind rivets, but this time they're Cherry Max rivets. These are the strongest blind rivets you can get, and I feel much better about it this time. There are a couple of holes that I could've put solid rivets in, but when I drilled out the blind rivet, the little strap bent away from the skin, and pushing up on that while bucking proved impossible. Brit did help me with those when she got home...she pushed up on the doubler/strap while I pulled the rivet. The rivet in question in the first pic below was set blind because while I *thought* I could get a bar in there, I just didn't feel comfortable with the skinny little bar needed. Too much of a chance of slipping off and denting this area.
The pic above shows where I could've put a solid in if the strap had not bent away from the bulkhead. I also scuffed the rivet lines while waiting. This just makes the rivet lines look a little better, and removes some of the surface marring from the flush set.
