Happy Birthday to our youngest "son" Yeager...he's 2 today!

Man, I haven't worked on this thing for a while.  The last two weeks have flown by, and I haven't had a chance to do anything other than install those new brake lines.  I did build new fuselage stands, however, and they came out great!

They are very sturdy, and this will allow me to move the airplane around on the dolly's I bought, and modified for this application.  It will be extremely nice to have the fuselage only 8 inches off the ground for canopy and interior/panel work.

On to building!  After a long day of installing a new garage door opener, making some more agility equipment for a friend, and cutting down our pretty birch tree that was killed by Japanese Beetles last year, I did get some time to work on the airplane!  Woohoo!!

Next on my list of 'to do's' before the canopy is started, are the tip up struts.  But, before I install those, I wanted to install these neat little canopy frame stops that keep the frame from moving forward from the pressure of the struts when the frame is closed.  These are not on the plans, but they are a great mod to keep things in place.  I started with a small piece of angle drilled to the longerons.

Then I drilled the hole for the bolt to pass thru, and riveted the angle on.

Shown from the inside with the canopy frame closed, you can see the bolt head (I used a carriage bolt with the round head to keep any marring/scratching to a minimum) meets the frame to keep it from moving any further forward.  It will contact the frame a little better after I take care of that nasty gap between the frame/skin and the side rails.

Here is the completed installation with the canopy open.

That's it for today, other than snapping this trim button cover in place.

I bought that from fellow RV builder, Bill Repucci, who makes those for $12.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so no work, but hopefully Monday I can get some more time in...

1.75 hours
