5/13/2008 Man, we had a whopper of a storm tonight! Nickel sized hail, torrential downpours, wind, lightening and thunder like you wouldn't believe! It was a great time to be working in the garage with the door open! My dad came over to buck rivets tonight, installing the forward-aft top skin. This is the second to last skin, with the only one left being the forward "boot cowl skin". I read as many sites as I could regarding when to put this skin on, and it basically comes down to whether or not your done with running stuff to the tail. I am, so on it went. Turned out great!
No bulging at the skin joints, and my dad did a great job bucking from the inside. At this point, I had to run out to the kennel club to get Wiley. Brit takes both of the dogs out to the club on Tuesday's, but Wiley was just beside himself with all the noise from the storm, so I picked him up so he could hang out with me in the garage. When I got home, I did have a few rivets to finish with the squeezer, but then went back to work on the aft tip up strut mounts. I drilled the other holes, and smoothed the pieces on the wheel, but didn't get them drilled to the side rails.
They are marked for matching them up to the side rails next time. 3.0 hours |
