I've had a serious lack of time to work on the airplane lately.

I didn't have much time tonight either, but I did manage one hour and removed the engine mount for firewall planning...

...and sanded the top of the roll bar so the Sika will adhere.

Temperatures are getting much warmer, and is forecast to be in the low 80's over the weekend.  Maybe I can FINALLY start on the canopy.

I do have one thing to rant on before I sign off for the night.  ANOTHER freakin' AD is coming out that will affect the traditional Lycoming clone manufacturer, ECI.  I say another because they all just went thru a crankshaft fiasco (for the second or third time), and it seems like it's never ending.  I was planning to use an ECI O-320 Titan Kit engine.  I say was, because now I'm not sure.  Year after year it's some other part that can't be made properly.  It's not just ECI, Lycoming has had endless problems with QC, and now Superior is gonna be tied up in the bankruptcy deal (not a QC issue, but still an issue) with Thielert Diesel engines.  WHY can't the quality be controlled???  I'm at a loss.  This really bugs me, and I hear the alternative engine trumpet blaring in my ear!  Not rotary (too much work)...not Subaru (Egg's are too expensive)...maybe the Chevy 4.3 V6 (cheap, easy, and simple) is the answer...or the Deltahawk (though pricey).  I dunno.  It's really a damn shame that people are going to have to shell out a prorated amount of money depending on the time on the cylinders.  Some with low time will get four cylinders for $1,400, and others with higher time will come close to $3,500 to replace them.  It's not the money (well, it is to a point), it's the fact that this KEEPS happening.  I'm frustrated.

1.0 hour
