5/14/2009 I had planned on getting started on polishing the bottom of the wings tonight, but I forgot to run to the store to buy some micro fiber cloth. Instead, I ran the antenna wires, and then drilled the hole for the transponder antenna.
It's not installed yet, but it fits great!
Since I was under the airplane, I decided to lay out the holes for the comm antenna, and fit that to the belly. It's right in the middle, just in front of the 704 bulkhead...
I need to touch up the paint on the base (it's a used antenna), but the fit is good, and it's nice and straight! Here's a shot of the BNC connector where it comes thru the floor under the fuel selector...
I'm gonna use a 90 degree BNC fitting so the wire stays close to the floor under the center cover. I really like being at the hangar working on this now...friends stop by to shoot the sh*t, and while that delays things a bit, it's all worth it as part of the experience! 2.0 hours |
