Lot's of pics again tonight!  I finished the LED nav light installation, and got a small start on installing the wingtips.  There wasn't really anything left to do on the nav lights, other than install them and take pictures.  So...here they are!

Here's how BRIGHT the red one's are...they light up the room, even with the BRIGHT green ones on!

So, those are done, and I had some time to get started on the wingtip installation.  I'm going a different direction than Van's instructions say.  I HATE platenuts, so I found a way to install the tips with piano hinge.  This will really make the tips look very nice when installed.  It's gonna add a significant amount of time, but I have a couple of months to wait for the fuselage to get here, so I might as well.  I'm not talking about a month long project here, but maybe two weeks or so.  I'm guessing 20 hours at this point.  We'll see how it goes.

First, I marked the scrap .042 AL for cutting 1/2" strips.  I'll do this on the shear at work tomorrow.

Then I marked the extra holes in the wing skins for the piano hinge that will be riveted on.  After marking, I grabbed my punch, and punched a mark for drilling.

This made drilling the holes a snap (Hi Snap!!-a buddy of mine...).

2.5 hours
