11/25/2007 The last item on my 'to do' list was to install the aux fuel pump doubler. I mentioned yesterday that the platenuts were installed incorrectly, and I drilled those out. After doing that, and countersinking the aft side for the flush rivets, I drill the doubler to the firewall. Access from the inside sucks since I have to lay down under the panel to get to it. I decided drill two holes from the inside, then moved it outside, cleco'd those two holes, and drilled the remaining holes. THIS DOES GO INSIDE.
While I was priming the doubler, my dad showed to help me rivet this piece to the firewall. We waited a few minutes for the primer to dry, then riveted it in place.
Several different flush sets were used to set those since the firewall angle was a factor. Here are the platenuts in the correct spot on the outside.
I had to move the ears slightly since I already drilled and countersunk the holes for the normal position. Since I couldn't countersink those holes again from the other side, I made new holes. That's it! That's all I have to work with (except a small lighting project for the baggage compartment that I'll do sometime soon). Since my finish kit won't be here until the end of January, I went ahead and covered up the fuselage to keep the dust off of it in the meantime.
I will do that baggage lighting project, and make an entry for it, but that will all be done on the work bench. Until then...SEE YA! 1.0 hour |
