In cowling news this week...I've been talking with Will James this week about my cowl, and he can easily make me a slightly longer long cowl to fit my airplane, so I am now officially in line for one early next year, probably February.  That works out fine as my propeller could be here as early as February as well.  I am getting a small credit for deleting the large rings, but I will be ordering the wheel pants at the same time, so it's still gonna be up there $$$-wise.  Liz emailed me several times today to firm things up, and we're all set.  I am getting the old cowl ready to ship to a 9A builder in Montana over the weekend.  It sold quickly, so that was nice.

Tonight I got some unusual shop time on a Friday night due to Brit being out of town on training weekend with the doggies.  I finished sanding the FAB cone first, then painted it and the back plate.  Um, yeah, it's red...what else?

Since my carb air box is still on it's way from James via UPS, I am pretty much dead in the water with wet paint, and no box.

I really hate to move on to another sub-project when the one I'm focusing on isn't done yet, but I need to use my available time this weekend (well, specifically tonight since it's only supposed to get to 35 with rain tomorrow, and I more than likely won't work in the garage...we'll see) to work on something.  So I decided to start the baffles for the plenum.  I bought the Van's baffle kit to adapt to the SJ plenum.  Most people using the SJ plenum are doing this these days.  I'll build up the baffles, and then trim the top down to where it needs to be for the plenum to fit under the cowl.

All I got done tonight was a little deburring, made a spacer (green arrow), and set a couple of doubler rivets.

I'm not sure if I'm going to remote mount the oil cooler or not yet, so I'm not cutting the hole in that back baffle just yet...
