Holy crap I have a lot of pictures for this entry!

Yesterday I stuffed my SJ cowl in to my little Eclipse to bring it home from work.  Who needs a truck!?

It worked, and it's home in the garage now.  I thought I might start fiddling with it soon, so I wanted it here if I do.

I still have plenty of work to do on the FAB anyway, so that's what I'm gonna stick with for today.  Earlier this week I stopped by Advance Auto Parts to pick up a K&N filter (E-0995) for the SJ intake.

I drilled the base of the filter to the intake tube...

...and then took a dirty picture (at least it looks dirty to me... ;o) ).

Then I went back to work on the carb heat.  I marked the hole for cutting last time, and today it was cut with the Dremel and a cutoff wheel.

Next step is to test fit a test piece for the ram air door-

The pattern was a little small, so I cut it out slightly larger, and larger still when I actually made the piece.

Next up was the top deck.  This calls for a piece of .056 AL, but all I have is .063, so that'll work.

At this point, I had to run in to work to work on closing a Malibu sale, but it was quick and I had some time to cut out some spacer strips for the cowl.

When I got back, I made the ram air door, and fit it to the cone.

The top deck needed a cutout made for the carb heat air to come in, and I used a #30 drill to knock out the hole.

After some filing and grinding, I got it close to the size I think I need, but that won't be known until I fit it all together.

I also made the lever, but didn't attach it today.

Tomorrow morning I plan to glass in the intake deck to the cone, and then perhaps stare at the cowl a little bit.
