10/21/2006 I went to visit another project today here in town. A friend of mine is building a Zodiac 640, and I've been meaning to go over to his hanger to check it out, and today was finally the day. What a neat project! He is quite a ways in to the build with the empennage and wings finished, and most of the fuselage is done as well. Today I helped him get a start on his engine mount for the six cylinder Franklin he is gonna hang on it! Cool! I got a start on the flaps today. I deburred all the edges, and the lightening holes in the spars. I started with the left flap and got the ribs 704L and 705L drilled to the spar, and then cleco'd the bottom skin 702L to the ribs and spar.
There are two small spacers FL-708 that are fabricated to fill the gap at the trailing edge on the bottom of the flap where the top skin wraps around and overlaps the bottom skin (did that make any sense?). You can see them in the pic above, but here's a close up of them after the holes were drilled.
Tomorrow should be a big day of building!! 1.5 hours |
